Cookie Policy
Effective Date: September 11, 2026
In short
This website sets two cookies, both belonging to Google Analytics, and only after you accept them. If you decline, nothing is stored on your device. There are no advertising cookies, no cross-site tracking, and no session recording.
1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. Related technologies — such as your browser's local storage — store data on your device in the same way and are covered by this policy too.
Cookies can be "persistent" or "session" cookies. Persistent cookies remain on your device after you close your browser, while session cookies are deleted when you close it.
2. Cookies We Set
We use cookies for one purpose only: to understand which of our guides and product pages people read, and which channels bring them here. We do not use cookies to build advertising profiles or to follow you onto other websites.
These cookies are not set unless you accept them. Google Analytics is not loaded at all until you do.
| Cookie | Purpose | Expires |
|---|---|---|
_ga | Google Analytics. Distinguishes one visitor from another so repeat visits are not counted as new people. | 2 years |
_ga_7TR221LYFE | Google Analytics. Keeps track of the current session for our property. | 2 years |
Google Analytics is provided by Google, which acts as our data processor and may process this data outside Kenya. Google's own description of these cookies is published in Google Analytics Cookie Usage.
3. Measurement That Does Not Use Cookies
So that we can still see basic traffic levels when visitors decline cookies, we use DataFast in its cookieless mode. It stores nothing on your device. Instead it counts a visit using a hashed value derived from your IP address, browser user-agent and our domain, combined with a secret that changes roughly every 24 hours — so the hash cannot be linked back to you or used to recognise you on later days.
Because it places nothing on your device, this tool runs for all visitors and is not covered by the choice below. If you would prefer not to be counted at all, any standard tracker-blocking extension will stop it.
4. Remembering Your Choice
When you accept or decline, we save that decision in your browser's local storage under the key creodata-analytics-consent, so we do not ask again on every page. We deliberately use local storage rather than a cookie for this, so that declining leaves your cookie jar completely empty. It stays on your device until you clear your browser data, and it is never sent to us or to anyone else.
5. What We Do Not Use
To be explicit, this website does not use:
- Advertising or re-marketing cookies
- Cookies that track you across other websites
- Social media tracking pixels
- Session recording or heatmap tools
- Cookies that are strictly necessary for the site to work — there are none, so refusing cookies breaks nothing
6. Changing Your Mind
You can change your decision at any time, and withdrawing is as easy as consenting. Use the button below or the Cookie settings link in the footer of every page. If you withdraw consent, we delete the Google Analytics cookies from your browser and reload the page so that measurement stops immediately.
7. Browser Controls
Most browsers also let you block or delete cookies yourself, whatever a website asks for. You can normally set your browser to block all cookies, block third-party cookies only, clear cookies when you close it, or warn you before one is set:
You can also install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on to block Google Analytics across every site you visit.
8. Do Not Track Signals
Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" (DNT) signal. There is still no agreed standard for how websites should respond to it, so we do not act on DNT. Because analytics cookies are off until you accept them, declining the panel achieves the same result.
9. Updates to This Cookie Policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes in the tools we use or for legal or operational reasons. If we add a cookie, it will be listed in the table in section 2 before it is set, and we will ask for your consent again.
10. More Information
For more on how we handle personal data, including your rights under the Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019, see our Privacy Policy.
